A new holiday is being introduced in Ukraine.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has signed a decree establishing February 5 as the Day of the State Special Transport Service. This is stated in the Presidential Decree No. 14/2025.

Given the significant contribution of the State Special Transport Service to ensuring the stable operation of transportation in peacetime and in special times, as well as to fulfilling tasks regarding technical coverage, reconstruction at facilities of the national transportation system of Ukraine, and other tasks related to participation in the defense of the state, I decide: To introduce the Day of the State Special Transport Service in Ukraine, which shall be celebrated annually on February 5.

The State Special Transport Service (SSTS) is a specialized state agency of Ukraine responsible for ensuring the safety and functionality of the transportation infrastructure, especially in emergencies, war, or other crises.

Main functions of the SSTS:

• Maintenance and repair of the transport infrastructure;
• Response to emergencies;
• Protection of the infrastructure;
• Evacuation measures.

The State Special Transport Service is subordinate to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. It performs tasks both in peacetime and under martial law. The agency includes specialized units equipped with their own engineering technology and professionals from various profiles.

We remind that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has signed Decree No. 883/2024 introducing a new state holiday - the Day of International Harmony and Cultural Diversity.
