New Version of a Classic Hit

According to TSN.ua: Valeriy Kharchishyn, frontman of the band 'Druha Rika,' has rerecorded his hit song 'Vzhe ne sam' (No Longer Alone) to raise funds for Ukraine's Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR). The campaign aims to collect 15 million hryvnias to purchase a boat, drones, and server equipment for military personnel. This initiative is part of a broader trend of Ukrainian artists using their platforms to support the nation's defense efforts since the full-scale invasion began.

The original song premiered in 2003. The new remake has been retitled 'Vzhe ne som' (No Longer a Catfish). The music video for the updated version features cameos from well-known Ukrainian comedians, including Mark Kutsevalov, Artem Damnytskyi, and the duo 'Bumper ta Sus.'

Project Context and Significance

An interesting historical footnote adds context to the new title: in 1976, what was reportedly the largest catfish ever caught in Kyiv was pulled from a lake. Mark Kutsevalov, reflecting on the project, recalled:

Through this project, 'Druha Rika' is not only reviving the popularity of their classic hit but also making a substantial contribution to supporting Ukrainian soldiers on the front lines.

This effort highlights how culture and art can merge with social responsibility and military support. Fundraising through music is an effective way to mobilize society and draw attention to critical issues like national security. The campaign also underscores the vital role of creativity during challenging times, when backing the armed forces is crucial for the nation's stability.
