Public transport fares in Poltava will not increase: why the authorities and carriers reached an agreement.
According to inkorr.com: In Poltava, public transport will continue to operate at current fares starting November 17. This has become possible due to agreements between the city and carriers, who decided not to raise fare prices. This was reported by the press service of the city council.
Reasons for fare stability in Poltava
The previous fare increase was approved back in 2022, but the new authorities are trying to avoid an additional financial burden for the city's residents. Carriers have agreed to continue operating at the existing fares, but have expressed the need for new economic justification for a price review in the future.
The city council notes that the situation is complex: on one hand, they are aware of the carriers' problems, and on the other hand, they receive numerous complaints from residents regarding the quality of services. Therefore, joint consultations are planned to consider financial calculations and seek a compromise solution.
City council secretary Kateryna Yamshykova emphasized the authorities' position:
'The decision to increase fares was made by the previous composition of the executive committee back in 2022. Since then, we have done everything possible to maintain the previous fare cost. We are grateful to the carriers for their willingness to meet the community's needs and not increase the fare. We understand that it is becoming increasingly difficult to operate under the current tariffs. At the same time, we cannot ignore passengers' complaints about the quality of transport.'
Current transport fares in Poltava
The city continues to operate at established fares. Currently, the cost of travel is:
in trolleybuses – up to 10 hryvnias
in municipal buses – 12 hryvnias
in private minibuses – up to 15 hryvnias
The situation with transport fares in Poltava shows that the local authorities are trying to find a balance between the carriers' needs and the residents' demands. Continuing to operate under the old fares aims to alleviate the financial burden on the population; however, many questions remain open regarding the quality of services. Minibus owners are ready to discuss new economic conditions, and possibly, changes in fares will become necessary in the near future.
