Ukraine's Parliament Approves New Law to Support Police Veterans.
Bill No. 14194: Support for National Police Veterans
According to TSN.ua: Ukraine's parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, has passed Bill No. 14194, which broadens opportunities for veterans of the National Police and adapts the selection process for candidates with combat experience. This legislative move aims to improve the procedures for selecting and integrating veterans into civilian society, recognizing their unique skills and service.
On February 24, Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, announced the bill's passage. A key provision is that candidates with combat experience may be exempt from mandatory physical fitness testing. This change is designed to help veterans adapt more easily to new service conditions and focus on their duties, acknowledging the physical demands they have already endured.
Enhanced Social Guarantees for Veterans
Furthermore, the bill stipulates that by 2026, the total pension for combat participants cannot be less than 210% of the subsistence minimum for persons who have lost their ability to work. These amendments are targeted at improving veterans' social security and creating favorable conditions for their further development within law enforcement structures. Bill No. 14194 represents a significant step in supporting those who have dedicated their efforts to serving and defending the country.
According to the new initiatives, Bill No. 14194 underscores the importance of supporting veterans and their societal integration. Streamlining the selection process and enhancing social guarantees could substantially improve the living conditions for service members transitioning to civilian life. Such reforms may also positively impact the quality of work within law enforcement agencies by facilitating the recruitment of experienced professionals with combat backgrounds, a valuable asset in the current context.
