Up to 95,000 UAH for Assistive Tech: New Support for Visually Impaired Veterans.
Fresh Assistance Initiative for Veterans with Vision Loss
According to Novyny.live: A new support program has been launched in Ukraine for veterans who have suffered vision loss due to the war. It provides funding of up to 95,000 hryvnias for equipment and gadgets designed to make daily life easier and maintain a good quality of life for those with such impairments. Importantly, the money is not given in cash; instead, it is paid directly to suppliers.
Applications for this assistance will be accepted from July 1 to July 31, 2026. Once an application is approved, recipients must open an account with Oschadbank or Ukrgasbank to handle the financial transactions. To apply, veterans need to prepare several documents, including:
- consent for data processing;
- an invoice for the equipment;
- a medical document confirming vision loss.
Payments for Combatants and Those with War-Related Disabilities
These payments are intended for combatants and individuals with disabilities resulting from the war. With the funds, veterans can purchase a variety of devices, such as:
- smartphones with voice assistants;
- laptops or computers with screen-reading software;
- smart speakers;
- smartwatches with voice-activated features;
- home appliances like robot vacuums and washing machines with simple or voice controls;
- televisions with voice-enabled menus;
- GPS navigation devices;
- blood pressure monitors and glucose meters with audible results;
- specialized reading and text recognition devices;
- other equipment that aids people with visual impairments.
This new program gives visually impaired veterans access to modern technology that can significantly ease their everyday routines and help them integrate into society. It reflects the government’s commitment to supporting those who have faced hardships due to the war and aims to improve their quality of life. Ensuring that veterans receive full details about the program and its requirements will be key to making this initiative as effective as possible.
