According to inkorr.com: The Association of Veteran Entrepreneurs ATO (APVA) has expressed hope for effective measures to support veteran businesses. This was reported by the head of APVA and a commander of a special forces sniper platoon, Serhiy Poznyak.

Problems with current legislation

As Poznyak noted, the current law 'On Veteran Entrepreneurship' does not meet the needs of veterans, in particular, the provision that grants veteran business status only to those companies that are 100% owned by veterans.

'A person risks their life, gets injured after going through war, but when they return to civilian life, they are told that their business is not veteran-owned and they do not have the right to benefits from the state,' Poznyak explained.

APVA's proposals

Poznyak believes that the prohibition on business partners in order to maintain veteran status may be detrimental to the veterans themselves. Therefore, APVA proposes a compromise: if 60% of the business is owned by a veteran, they can obtain veteran status. However, this proposal was not included in the bill at the final stage of consideration.

Veterans of Ukraine call for effective measures to support veteran businesses, as the current legislation does not take into account the real needs of combatants. They also propose to stipulate a compromise condition in the legislation regarding veterans’ ownership in business to obtain veteran business status.

The Association of Veteran Entrepreneurs ATO is actively working on changes that will help veterans adapt to civilian life by developing their own businesses. It is important to consider their needs, as many of them have faced difficulties when returning to civilian life. These initiatives could be a great step towards supporting their entrepreneurship in Ukraine.
