Vietnamese Airlines Ban Power Banks: What Should Passengers Do Now

According to inkorr.com: Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air have decided to strengthen control over the use of portable chargers during flights. From now on, passengers cannot use external batteries such as power banks on board the aircraft. However, they can have them in their carry-on luggage, but charging them during the flight is prohibited. Devices should be kept in sight and not used during the flight.

Reasons for the New Restrictions

This decision was made due to the increase in incidents related to lithium batteries. According to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, 50 incidents related to chargers have been recorded. Batteries that are in luggage compartments or carry-on baggage can be difficult to control and dangerous in case of ignition due to their difficulty in detection and extinguishing.

Such a restriction was first introduced by Air Busan after a fire in the summer due to a portable charger on board one of its aircraft.

Onboard Ban

Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air have imposed a ban on the use of portable charging devices on board due to safety concerns regarding lithium batteries. These devices can pose a threat and be difficult to extinguish in case of fire. This decision aims to enhance flight safety and prevent potential incidents in the future.

These new regulations during flights are undoubtedly triggered by the global increase in hazardous situations with charging devices. Airlines prioritize safety, anticipating potential risks and trying to avoid incidents. Passengers are advised to pay attention to the new rules to ensure a safe flight for all on board.
