Elections in Ukraine 90 Days After the Ceasefire: What is Known About the Conditions.
Possibility of Holding Elections After the Ceasefire
According to ТСН: The Verkhovna Rada is considering an initiative to hold elections in Ukraine within 90 days after the cessation of hostilities.
This information was announced by the head of the Servant of the People faction, Davyd Arakhamia, in the broadcast of News.LIVE. According to him, during previous meetings, general issues were discussed, including the possibility of simultaneous elections and a referendum during these 90 days.
Arakhamia added that the 90-day period would begin only after the project is agreed upon and provided that the fire is ceased. In case of unforeseen circumstances, further actions may require revision.
According to Arakhamia, the main issue remains the question of security guarantees.
“Without confidence that the war will not recur, discussing other topics makes no sense. This is where the main focus is currently directed,” emphasized Arakhamia.
Furthermore, it is worth noting that at the beginning of December, the U.S. president raised the issue of the need to hold presidential elections in Ukraine, stating that Kyiv is “using the war to avoid holding elections.”
Earlier, the Central Election Commission stated that conducting elections is impossible without amending the legislation.
Ukraine is currently in a difficult situation, and organizing elections after the cessation of hostilities will be an important step in restoring political processes. Security guarantees and legal foundations for conducting elections remain key factors in this process, which require attention from state institutions and society as a whole.
