According to ТСН: Ukraine is unable to finance elections due to a deficit in the state budget.

This information was confirmed by the advisor to the Office of the President Mykhailo Podoliak in an interview.

“By the way, is there an approximate figure of how much this might cost us? I think the CEC and the working committee in parliament should calculate this. Because it is not us who should finance this. Objectively, we cannot afford it because we have a deficit budget,” Podoliak said.

He also emphasized that the budget priorities of the country are currently focused on defense and social support for the population.

“Our budget priorities are somewhat different: militarization on one side and social programs that should compensate for economic losses for personal households,” the OP advisor noted.

Podoliak stressed the necessity of addressing the voting issue for millions of Ukrainians living abroad.

“If elections take place, how will 6-8 million Ukrainians who currently live outside the country vote? This should be worked out by the working group,” he added.

It was also previously reported that the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk announced the creation of a special working group that will deal with preparing the draft law on conducting elections.

These statements underline the seriousness of the funding issue for elections in Ukraine, considering the current budget challenges. The voting issue for Ukrainians abroad is also important, as it requires careful consideration, given the significant number of people who have the right to participate in the electoral process.
