Governor Tate Reeves assured that all employees and contractors present at the scene are safe. The factory is capable of storing up to 48,000 tons of ammonia, but the exact amount present at the factory during the explosion is currently unknown.
The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality stated that 'air monitoring operations will continue as long as necessary for the safety of the population.'
