Consequences of the explosion in Khmelnytsky
According to inkorr.com: In Khmelnytsky, rescuers are actively working to eliminate the consequences of the explosion in a multi-storey building. The explosion destroyed nine apartments and damaged another 15. As a result of the incident, five people were injured, including a child. This was reported by 'Glavcom'.
Currently, the main goal of the rescuers is to find a woman born in 1973 who, according to preliminary data, may be under the rubble. All services are working together at the scene: rescuers, police, medics, and psychologists from the Red Cross are coordinating the search efforts.
A Resilience Point has been created to assist the victims, and tents of the Ukrainian Red Cross have also been deployed. The search and rescue operation is ongoing, and the final conclusions regarding the causes of the explosion will be known after the rubble is cleared and the examination is conducted.
The mayor of Khmelnytsky, Oleksandr Symchyshyn, reported that the destruction was caused by a household gas explosion. The mayor also noted that specialists are assessing the risk of further building collapse and determining the need for the evacuation of residents.
Currently, an investigation into several versions of the causes of the explosion is underway. It is expected that the results of the investigation and the final version from law enforcement will be announced shortly.
This tragedy once again emphasizes the importance of being attentive to the safety of gas equipment in residential buildings.
