Through emergency power outages: Novus and Silpo supermarkets closed in Kyiv and the region

According to ТСН: Due to emergency power outages in Kyiv and the region, several supermarkets have suspended their operations. This concerns the Novus and Silpo chains, while ATB continues to operate without interruptions.

Some stores are closed

Power supply issues have affected the operations of some retail establishments, forcing them to limit or completely suspend their work. In the Novus chain, it was reported that due to the power outages, not all stores can operate in the usual mode. As of 09:00, about 17 supermarkets in the city and the region are temporarily closed.

“We are all currently in a difficult situation due to power outages. The NOVUS team is doing everything possible to restore the stores' operations as quickly as possible and to be there for you,”

— the company said in a statement. The mentioned stores are located in various parts of the capital, including on Anna Akhmatova Street, Petra Hryhorenka Avenue, and others.

The Silpo chain also confirmed that some of its supermarkets are closed.

“Due to low temperatures and partial blackouts, equipment in some supermarkets occasionally malfunctions. In such cases, the supermarket may be temporarily closed. Meanwhile, local teams are doing everything possible to restore operations as quickly as possible,”

— Silpo stated.

ATB denied rumors about the closure of its supermarkets, emphasizing that the stores operate normally due to alternative power sources.

“As of today, all stores of the ATB retail chain in Kyiv and the Kyiv region are operating normally. The company’s facilities are equipped with autonomous power sources (generators), which allows uninterrupted operations even in case of power outages,”

— the company stated in an official announcement.

What the authorities say

The city head Vitali Klitschko stated that the information about the closure of supermarkets of major chains is not true.

“I thank the businesses that continue to operate to provide residents of the city with necessary products and goods during the emergency situation,”

— he added.

Information will be updated.

Earlier, the possibility of restoring Ukraine's energy system after Russian attacks was also discussed.

“For now, there is no talk of recovery. It is still very far away. I heard statements from the Ministry of Energy about six months for recovery in the absence of shelling, but in my estimates, it will take two to three times longer,”

— said MP Nahornyak.

Against the backdrop of Russian attacks, which have affected Ukraine's energy system, the situation with power supply remains tense. Authorities and companies are doing their utmost to ensure the stability of supplies, but consumer awareness and understanding also play an important role.

Thus, despite the temporary difficulties with power supply, supermarket chains are trying to organize their operations to restore access to necessary goods for the capital's residents as quickly as possible.
