Government bans disconnection of electricity and water for debts in frontline communities.
According to inkorr.com: The government of Ukraine is working on a moratorium on disconnections of water and electricity in frontline communities due to debts. This decision aims to ensure stability during the heating season. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction
Oleksiy Kulebaduring his visit to the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Moratorium on disconnections in frontline communities
This moratorium is part of a broader government strategy aimed at supporting regions that face serious difficulties during the war.
“Stable passage of the heating season for territories that are shelled daily is about the resilience of communities in extremely difficult conditions. We are preparing solutions that will allow people to be confident that heat and light will remain available even in these realities”, emphasized Kuleba.
Measures by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development before winter
In addition, the government is working on compensating tariff differences for heat utilities so that enterprises can timely start the heating season and avoid disruptions, especially in regions that are regularly under attack.
Key measures for winter preparation include:
- Ban on utility disconnections for debts in frontline areas.
- Compensation of tariff differences for heat utilities.
- Development of distributed generation: 190 cogeneration units and 134 modular block boilers installed, providing 700 MW of capacity.
In addition to energy initiatives, the government is also working on evacuating residents from dangerous areas. Since the beginning of summer, nearly 100 thousand people, including 11 thousand children and 3 thousand people with limited mobility, have left frontline territories. The Dnipropetrovsk region is an important transit point where internally displaced persons receive medical assistance, food, consultations, and support in settling in new places in Pavlograd and Voloshkiv. The Ministry of Social Policy is implementing digital tools to simplify the integration process for displaced persons.
Thus, the government is taking measures to improve living conditions in frontline communities facing serious challenges. The moratorium on service disconnections and tariff compensation should help residents to stably survive the winter period, while evacuation measures will help save lives and health in dangerous areas.
