Restoration of electricity after the blackout in Odesa: what is the current situation with electricity supply.
After the shelling by Russia, the situation with electricity supply in the Odesa region, particularly in the city of Odesa, remains complicated. However, energy workers continue to work tirelessly. This information was reported by Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov and the DTEK company in their Telegram channels.
“Energy workers have been working without a break since early morning and will continue to work at night, despite the heavy loss – the death of their colleagues during today’s attack. I express my heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased,” – Trukhanov stated.
Regarding the electricity supply, thanks to the professionalism and joint efforts of the energy workers, Odesa is gradually receiving electricity. Initially, electricity is being provided to critical infrastructure facilities.
After the restoration of water supply in the city, the heating will be connected. However, not all residents of Odesa will have the opportunity to receive heat and hot water today. Trukhanov reminded that the public water supply points operate from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
Currently, due to electricity supply restrictions, public transport cannot operate on its routes. The city is looking for alternative solutions.
“Humanitarian buses could be an alternative, but due to the lack of changes in legislation, they cannot be launched officially. We are looking for resources to use the Mercedes buses provided by our partners. We are ready to launch four buses now, and transportation will be free,” – he noted.
Regarding education, Trukhanov reminded that due to the situation, the regional commission on technogenic and environmental safety and emergency situations has decided to declare the next two days as weekends. Emergency classes are organized for children.
DTEK confirmed that energy workers are restoring electricity supply to critical infrastructure facilities and gradually bringing light back to residential buildings.
“The most difficult situation is observed in Odesa and the Odesa region. There is currently no possibility to supply electricity to critical facilities in the Kyiv (Tairov microdistrict) and Primorsky (Arcadia microdistrict) districts of the city. Work continues,” – DTEK reported.
It should be noted that after the morning shelling by the Russian Federation on November 17, Odesa experienced power outages. Some areas of the city also faced water supply issues.
Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin failed to achieve his goal of plunging Ukraine into darkness. The night and morning passed relatively problem-free for the energy infrastructure. Although Odesa region, Lviv region, Rivne region, Ivano-Frankivsk region, and Volyn faced partial attacks.
It should be reminded that early in the morning on November 17, Russian occupiers carried out a large-scale shelling with rockets of various types. According to President Zelensky, Russia launched about 120 missiles and 90 drones in total, but our air defense destroyed more than 140 enemy targets. Ukraine's Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko later reported that Russian terrorists attack energy system facilities across the country with rockets. Emergency power outages have been introduced.
