Postponing Military Service After Losing Deferral: Rules and Impact on Students.
Deferral of Mobilization for Eligible Citizens
According to Novyny.live: Citizens who have lost their previous exemption from mobilization can apply for a new deferral starting from the moment their original reservation is canceled. This is a critical provision for students, who can use this mechanism to avoid being called up for military service. This process is part of ongoing legal adjustments to Ukraine's mobilization framework.
The relevance of this issue is highlighted by a recent case where a woman sought legal advice for her husband, who works at a critically important enterprise. Lawyer Yuriy Aivazian clarified that the timing of the deferral application is not a limiting factor. He stated,
"It generally makes no difference, because in this case the man is not tied to submitting the deferral application through the TsNAP (Administrative Services Center)."This means a citizen can apply for the deferral at any point after their original reservation is annulled.
Applying for a Student Deferral
It is important to note that students must apply for this deferral through the 'Reserve+' program. This system allows students who have lost their protected status to avoid conscription and continue their studies without interruption. Consequently, awareness of this option is vital for many students and their families navigating the current situation.
Ensuring access to mobilization deferrals is a key measure in supporting citizens who might otherwise face conscription. This is especially pertinent as many young people are pursuing higher education or working in sectors vital to the national economy. Public knowledge of these procedures can help reduce the stress and uncertainty associated with mobilization efforts.
