Military hackers attacked the main contractor of Gazprom.

Cyber specialists from the GUR and the Armed Forces attacked Russian enterprises

The cyber specialists of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces conducted an attack on the main contractor of Russian Gazprom and 22 enterprises servicing the oil and gas infrastructure of the Russian Federation. During the attack, about 120 servers and 2 terabytes of data were damaged, and 10,000 computers were disabled. This information was reported by Suspilne, citing sources in the special services.

On February 7-8, cyber specialists from the GUR and the Armed Forces triumphed in cyberspace over Russia. The main target of the attack was the contractor of Gazprom - Gazstroyprom, which is involved in the Russian aggression against Ukraine. Additionally, 22 companies providing construction and maintenance services for the oil and gas infrastructure of the Russian Federation were damaged.

Among the affected companies are Gazprom-Automatization, GSP-Complectation, Infoservice Region, Vector Vostok, SSK Gazregion, GSP-Center, GSP-Service, GSP-Technologies, GSP-Mechanization, GSP-Oil and Gas Processing, GSP-Processing, GSP-GSM, GSP-1, GSP-2, GSP-4, GSP-5, GSP-6, GSP-7, Sphere-Group, GSP-Investments, Gazstroyprom-Autotransport Enterprise, GSP-Finance.

As a result of the attack, more than 120 physical server hypervisors were disabled, file storage with documentation totaling 2 million gigabytes was destroyed, and over 10,000 computers became unusable. All systems and services were suspended. The losses incurred by the companies due to their participation in military actions against Ukraine may reach from tens to hundreds of millions of dollars.

Earlier, the National Insurance Company of Slovakia became a victim of a cyberattack, which Prime Minister Robert Fico linked to Ukraine. It is also known that the international company in the field of agro and food technologies MHP became the target of a hacker attack. On January 20, the functioning of the Unified and State Registers of the Ministry of Justice was restored, which were unavailable after a large-scale cyberattack by Russia.
