Ukraine Allows Military Pensioners to Return to Duty Without Losing Benefits.
Military Pensioners Can Resume Service
According to Novyny.live: During the ongoing state of war and mobilization, Ukraine has introduced a new provision allowing military pensioners to return to active service without forfeiting their pension rights. This enables veterans to continue defending their country while still receiving their full pension payments. Crucially, these payments will not be suspended regardless of whether the individual serves under a mobilization call-up, a reservist call-up, or a contract during a special period. This policy is part of broader efforts to bolster military personnel numbers while supporting veterans financially.
Terms and Benefits
The key condition for receiving a pension remains discharge from service. Upon being discharged a second time, pension payments will be recalculated to account for:
- additional length of service;
- the new level of monetary support received.
This offers returning military pensioners the opportunity to secure higher future pension payments by accruing extra service time.
It is important to note, however, that additional bonuses or rewards received during active duty are not factored into the pension calculation. To have their pension recalculated after a subsequent discharge, military pensioners must submit the necessary documentation to the authorized government body.
“This could be a significant step in ensuring the financial stability of military personnel who choose to serve their country once more.”
Consequently, the new rules permitting military pensioners to return to service may positively impact their long-term pension benefits, providing a pathway to increase their level of support after final discharge.
The implementation of these new conditions for military pensioners in Ukraine reflects the growing need to mobilize all available resources and support the armed forces during wartime. This approach also aims to enhance the social protection of veterans who can now combine service with pension receipt, a critical consideration during prolonged conflicts. Furthermore, these changes may incentivize experienced veterans to contribute their valuable skills and knowledge to the national defense effort.
