Ukrainian Veterans with Disabilities Eligible for Compensation Up to 1.3 Million Hryvnias.
Compensation for Military Personnel with Disabilities
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian service members who sustained injuries while defending the nation are entitled to state compensation. The amount is determined by the circumstances of the injury and the severity of the resulting disability, as verified by official medical documentation.
- Compensation for veterans with a Group I disability is 1,331,200 hryvnias.
- For those with a Group II disability, the amount is 998,400 hryvnias.
- Veterans with a Group III disability can receive 832,000 hryvnias.
If the disability was not incurred during the defense of Ukraine, the compensation amounts are significantly lower:
- for Group I, it is 399,360 hryvnias;
- for Group II — 299,520 hryvnias;
- for Group III — 232,960 hryvnias.
Additionally, service members can receive an annual financial aid payment for social and domestic needs. In February, some personnel will receive extra payments of up to 100,000 hryvnias. These benefits are part of Ukraine's social support system for its armed forces, which has been expanded since the full-scale invasion.
Olena Voronkova, an expert in social protection, emphasized the critical importance of properly documenting the injury and ensuring all paperwork is correctly filed.
She also stressed the necessity of appealing decisions if they do not comply with regulations or reflect the actual circumstances of the case. If a military medical commission (VLC) fails to establish a causal link to the defense of Ukraine, it is recommended to appeal the VLC's conclusion to a higher-level commission or to a court.
Therefore, veterans with disabilities have the opportunity to receive substantial compensation, which can significantly improve their living conditions. This reflects the state's efforts to provide social protection for those harmed by military actions. Key to accessing these funds are meticulous documentation and the right to appeal unfavorable rulings, enabling service members to defend their rights and secure the support they are owed.
