Disability Payments for Ukrainian Armed Forces

According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian military personnel who have sustained a disability due to injury or concussion while serving are entitled to a one-time financial assistance payment. The amount of this support is determined by the assigned disability group, which establishes the payment level for each category.

Payment Amounts

According to new regulations set to take effect on January 1, 2026, the subsistence minimum for able-bodied persons will be 3,328 UAH. The one-time financial assistance for service members who have become disabled will vary based on their disability group as follows:

  • For individuals with a Group 3 disability, the payment will be 832,000 UAH;
  • For Group 2, the amount will be 998,400 UAH;
  • The largest one-time assistance, 1,331,200 UAH, will be provided to individuals with a Group 1 disability.

The assignment of this one-time financial aid to service members is handled by Ukraine's Ministry of Defense, specifically by legal officers within the institution. This mechanism is designed to support those who, while defending the country, have suffered losses impacting their physical health. These payments are part of a broader system of veteran support that has evolved since the conflict with Russia began in 2014.

The introduction of new payments for military personnel with disabilities represents a significant step in supporting veterans who sustained injuries in the line of duty. These changes are expected to substantially improve the financial situation of disabled service members and provide them with necessary aid for recovery and adaptation to new life circumstances. It is anticipated that these regulations will foster better social protection and integration of such individuals into society.
