A soldier talked about the inner life of the Third Assault Brigade.
The Third Separate Assault Brigade is a reflection of Ukrainian society, where representatives from various professions and regions have come together. Its foundation is made up of people for whom protecting Ukraine is a priority. This was shared by the commander of the drone battalion of the Third Separate Assault Brigade, Semen 'Barber' Semkiv, in an interview with '24 Channel'.
'It's not just said, 'come to us and we'll have a good Time'. As long as I've been there, as long as I've served and fought in this valiant brigade, we've never had a situation where we were given a task and we refused to perform it, or didn't want to go, or anything like that. The guys always jokingly say, 'let's do it, what's so difficult about it?'
The commander of the drone battalion of the Third Separate Assault Brigade, Semkiv, notes that despite the tough tasks, the military always wanted to show results.
'Why is that so? In my subjective opinion, it is probably an element of goodwill from the people, that is, volunteers who understand why they came. Recalling 2022, we were all different: someone a butcher, someone a barber, someone a mechanic. We thought, let's quickly get through this and go home to do our own things. But it has dragged on a bit, yet we are managing,' emphasized Semkiv.
The soldier notes that the large number of tough battles credited to the 3rd Assault Brigade is the merit of the soldiers, sergeant staff, and commanders at the lower levels.
'Perhaps the best representation of society that there is, is not so much the army as the war. It is the war that unites, forces you to stand shoulder to shoulder, because otherwise, how? And the Third Assault is no exception; it is also a reflection of society. We are different, we come from different regions. There are, of course, people who speak Russian, but if necessary, they switch to Ukrainian. There are people from the western part of Ukraine - Dnipro residents, Galicians, Bukovinians - but we all do one thing.'
According to Semkiv, most of the military in the brigade are people who clearly understand where they have come and why: 'I clarify why most, and not all - because when we became a brigade, we also had a story like mobilization. People who come to us through mobilization do not always want this in a standard way.'
Semen Semkiv noted that over time such military personnel adapt in the brigade, join the team, and gain combat experience. They gradually begin to understand that they are not here by chance.
'We came together not because we have nothing else to do at home. No, we all want to go home. We all have families, we all miss home, but we have certain priorities and understanding of these priorities,' emphasized the soldier.
It should be noted that the Third Assault Brigade has enough personnel not only to maintain its numerical strength but also to continuously increase it. The brigade has the lowest number of cases of AWOL (absent without leave) compared to other units. This was reported by Colonel Andriy Biletsky, the commander of the Third Assault Brigade.
