Severance Pay for Ukrainian Troops: Who Qualifies for 50% of Salary Per Year of Service.
One-Time Cash Assistance for Military Personnel in Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: Under a government resolution No. 168 adopted on February 28, 2022, Ukrainian service members leaving the military are eligible for a one-time cash payment. The amount varies based on the reason for discharge, length of service, and the soldier's category. This policy is part of broader efforts to support veterans transitioning to civilian life.
Eligibility Criteria for the Payout
Troops discharged due to health issues or upon contract expiration can receive 50% of their monthly salary for each year served. Service members with at least 10 years of service also qualify for this rate. Those who voluntarily leave the military during peacetime are entitled to 25% of their monthly pay per year of service. A separate calculation applies to officers who served on conscription.
For mobilized personnel, the payout is set at 4% of monthly salary for each full month served. However, no assistance is granted if the discharge results from professional misconduct or a court conviction. Importantly, departing soldiers receive full pay up to the day they are removed from the unit roster, plus compensation for any unused vacation days.
The system for calculating one-time cash aid for discharged service members follows clear rules, ensuring support for those who have completed their duty.
Introducing this assistance framework represents a key step in backing troops who face new challenges after service, especially in the post-conflict period. The regulations governing these payments help eliminate uncertainty and provide financial security for those who have dedicated years to defending the nation. This structure also encourages military personnel to time their departure in a way that maximizes benefits for themselves and their families, depending on the circumstances of their release.
