Ukraine's Military Personnel Granted Adoption Leave: Duration Details.
Adoption Leave for Ukrainian Armed Forces Personnel
According to Novyny.live: Members of Ukraine's Armed Forces are now eligible for social leave to adopt children. This policy allows service members to receive support during this significant life event, in accordance with current legislation. The length of this paid leave depends on the number of children being adopted.
Leave Duration
For the adoption of a single child, personnel are entitled to 56 calendar days of paid leave. When adopting two or more children simultaneously, this leave is extended to 70 calendar days. It is important to note that this leave can only commence after a court's adoption decision has legally taken effect.
'Adoption leave is a form of social leave,' stated Olena Dudchenko, emphasizing the importance of supporting military personnel through the adoption process.
She further clarified: 'A service member is granted a single, paid adoption leave of 56 calendar days—or 70 calendar days for the adoption of two or more children—which does not include public holidays and non-working days.' This new provision ensures that military personnel have dedicated time to focus on their new family responsibilities. This policy is particularly relevant given the social disruptions caused by the ongoing conflict.
The initiative not only improves social welfare for service members but also encourages the adoption of children in need of a family environment. Adoption leave represents a crucial step in supporting family values and the responsibility of child-rearing, especially during wartime when many families face considerable challenges.
