Vitaliy Kim on elections: Mykolaiv Regional State Administration is not preparing due to lack of a team.
According to ТСН: Head of the Mykolaiv Regional Administration Vitaliy Kim assured that currently there is no preparation for the elections due to the absence of the relevant order.
On the importance of peace
In an interview, he emphasized that the most important thing at the moment is to achieve favorable conditions for Ukraine. Kim stated:
‘Right now, the most important thing is to obtain favorable conditions for Ukraine. No matter how it sounds, we want a just peace, but we must get favorable conditions because the enemy continues to build up strength… I really hope for a peaceful track, because I want to work in a peaceful Ukraine’.
Elections and their organization
Vitaliy Kim reported that so far, there is no preparation for the elections, including presidential, parliamentary, local, or a referendum regarding the peace plan. He emphasized:
‘I am not preparing because there was no such team. Nothing is impossible. In Mykolaiv region, we can organize this, but we are not preparing. I think this is a secondary issue. The first is peace’.
The head of the Regional State Administration believes that under proper conditions, the region can prepare for the electoral process within 1–2 months, but for this, a relevant legislative framework is needed.
Voting rights for IDPs
Kim also emphasized the importance of ensuring voting rights for internally displaced persons:
‘It is very important to ensure the voting rights of all IDPs. How to implement this is an open question. I believe this must be done regardless of where you are. There are many people who have suffered and were forced to move. The rights that they have are mandatory to implement’.
Earlier, the President of Ukraine stated that he is ready for elections during the war, but only under certain conditions.
In this interview, Vitaliy Kim clearly outlined the priorities for Ukraine during a difficult time. He called for peace and emphasized the importance of including all segments of the population, particularly internally displaced persons, in the electoral process. Despite the lack of preparation for elections, Kim expressed hope for a quick restoration of democratic principles in the country provided there is stability and peace.
