The port infrastructure of Odesa was shelled from the Russian side, resulting in a large fire. Consequently, approximately 16 tons of carbon dioxide were released into the air. This was reported by the State Environmental Inspection of the South-Western District.

The fire occurred on October 20 due to the shelling of Odesa's port infrastructure and covered an area of 200 square meters. As a result, nearly 16 tons of carbon dioxide, a substance that significantly impacts climate change, were released.

The State Environmental Inspection reported that information about this incident was passed to the Operational Headquarters at the inspection, to be included in the registry of environmental damages caused by the war.

Ecologists emphasize that the natural environment of the Odesa region is suffering significant damage due to military actions from Russia.

Recall that as a result of the missile strike, the Novomis'ke (Tairovsky) cemetery in Odesa was damaged. A total of 114 graves were damaged, 19 of which were completely destroyed. Experts continue to assess the scale of the damage.
