The Life of Oleksandr Malanchuk
29-year-old Lieutenant Oleksandr Malanchuk, also known as Charlie, died on March 31, 2020, during the shelling of the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near the village of Hnutove in the Donetsk region.
“Oleksandr did not dream of a military career until the events at Maidan. He changed when the Heavenly Hundred died,” said his mother Larysa Malanchuk.
Oleksandr was born on September 26, 1998, in Chernivtsi. He decided to dedicate his life to defending Ukraine and enrolled in the Hetman Petro Sahaidachny National Academy of Land Forces in Lviv.
Awards and Recognition
For his courage and selflessness in protecting the national security of Ukraine, Lieutenant Oleksandr Malanchuk was posthumously awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky of the III degree. The Chernivtsi City Council renamed Mykolaivska Street and Mykolaivskyi Lane in Chernivtsi to Oleksandr Malanchuk Street and Lane.
Oleksandr Malanchuk is a true hero who gave his life for the protection of his homeland. His actions and sacrifice will forever remain in our memory as a symbol of courage and bravery.
The commemoration of Oleksandr Malanchuk serves as a reminder of all those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of peace and independence of Ukraine. His heroism and dedication serve as an example for future generations who will take on the responsibility of defending the country.
