WP revealed the number of Ukrainians mobilized in 2024.
Ukraine managed to recruit 200 thousand new soldiers into the army
According to the Washington Post, Ukraine managed to mobilize about 200 thousand new recruits during 2024. However, this number is still insufficient for the complete staffing of the army.
The military criticizes the government for the 'slow and uncoordinated mobilization campaign'. According to them, Ukraine started the draft too late, when military units were already seriously undermanned after a long period without replacements.
There are also reports of more deserters, as people are no longer forced, but there are also fewer volunteers. Moreover, losses among Ukrainians in defensive positions were greater than during the offensive.
One Ukrainian officer stated that Kyiv 'waited too long' to mobilize former inmates, while Russia did so at the beginning of the war.
Total mobilization continues in Ukraine, leading to the issuance of summons to conscripted citizens. Martial law and mobilization will last until February 7, 2025.
From November 1, 2024, the duration of training for mobilized individuals at training centers has been increased from one month to one and a half. In addition, the number of hours of firearms training is increasing, and new training areas are being updated, including combat operations against enemy unmanned aerial vehicles.
