Russian Drones Over Europe: US Army Expert Explained the True Goal of the Kremlin

According to ТСН: Incidents involving Russian drones in European skies are becoming more frequent. This does not indicate the start of World War III, but the threat is serious.

Such an opinion was expressed by former commander of the US Army in Europe, military expert Ben Hodges.

Hodges' Comment on Russian Drones

During an interview, the journalist asked Hodges about the situation with Russian drones that have entered Europe. She wondered whether this is a provocation, a testing of air defense systems, or an element of intimidation, and whether it can be interpreted as signs of the start of a war.

“No, this is not the beginning of World War III, if Europe finally takes it seriously to stop it,” he emphasized.

Assessment of Provocations from Russia

Hodges noted that Russia will continue its provocations until it feels their consequences. To date, such a reaction has not occurred. He stressed that this applies not only to drones but also to the submarine fleet and other 'gray operations'.

In his opinion, the goal of such actions by Russia is to distract the attention of European countries and intimidate their citizens, so that they do not support Ukraine, saying: 'We do not want war with Russia'.

“Secondly, to test the reaction, study Europe's defense, logistics, bases, and response times. And this will continue until European leaders speak to their populations as adults: 'Russia is doing this. This is a threat; it is a war against us.' Only then, hopefully before a real disaster occurs somewhere near the airport in Munich, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, or Brussels, will they (Europeans - Ed.) start to act, and the Kremlin will feel real consequences,” Ben Hodges concluded.

Poland's Reaction to Threats

It is worth noting that Poland recently raised its combat aviation and brought ground-based air defense systems to full combat readiness due to threats from Russia.

Moreover, the country is actively paying attention to violations of the airspace of European states by Russian drones.

The increasing activity of Russian drones in Europe indicates the possibility of new attempts by the Kremlin to influence the situation in the region. The reaction of countries, especially the Polish aviation, indicates the seriousness of the threat that could affect collective security in Europe. In the event of further escalation of the situation, it is important to maintain readiness for defense and to uphold sovereignty.
