Woman attempted to smuggle antique silverware from Odesa region to Georgia. However, customs officials caught her red-handed during a baggage inspection, and now the valuables will be confiscated, putting the traveler at risk of a fine.

Details of the case
A Ukrainian citizen attempted to transport dishes and cutlery with signs of antiquity across the 'Orlivka' border point. However, they were discovered by Odesa customs officials during the baggage inspection of passengers on the bus she was taking to Georgia.
Among the woman's personal belongings were items resembling silver: coffee cups, goblets, sugar tongs, spoons, and forks (one of which dates back to 1841). Most of them preserved the masters' hallmarks, the years of hallmarking, and the samples. Among the items was a fork from 1841.
What punishment awaits
The antique items will be confiscated from the woman. Their value and belonging to cultural and historical values will be determined by examination. A protocol on customs violations will also be drawn up.
According to Art. 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine (Movement or actions aimed at moving goods across the customs border of Ukraine while concealing from customs control), the woman faces a fine of 50 to 100 percent of the value of the relics she attempted to transport.
