According to ТСН: An audacious theft occurred near Magdeburg, Germany: about 20,000 Bundeswehr ammunition cartridges were stolen from a civilian truck. The incident happened due to unsecured parking, as the driver left the vehicle in an unprotected parking lot.

The German Ministry of Defense confirmed that this happened in the evening. The driver, who worked for a civilian transport company responsible for transporting the cargo, left the vehicle with ammunition unattended. It turned out that the company and its employee violated safety regulations, as the contract required the presence of two drivers, one of whom had to constantly monitor the cargo even during stops.

"During the trip, these rules were evidently violated. According to preliminary data, the stop on Tuesday night was not planned; the driver spontaneously decided to spend the night in a hotel, leaving the valuable cargo unattended."

What was stolen

The theft was discovered only the next day when the driver arrived at the destination. Soldiers stationed there quickly noticed signs of a burglary and checked the documents.

Preliminary estimates indicate that the following was stolen:

  • Approximately 10,000 pistol cartridges.

  • 9,900 assault rifle cartridges (most of which are non-combat).

  • Smoke grenades.

A representative of the Ministry of Defense noted:

"We take the theft very seriously, as such ammunition should not fall into the wrong hands."

Currently, the German armed forces, along with local police, are conducting an investigation to identify those involved in the theft. According to sources in the Bundeswehr, it is unlikely that this was a random robbery; most likely, the criminals noticed the transportation of ammunition and seized the opportunity during the driver's unplanned stop.

It is worth noting that the audacity of this crime has caused significant resonance in society. Theft of such magnitude threatens not only security but also the image of the German army. The investigation will continue, and society is eagerly awaiting the results.
