The tenth blackout at the Zaporizhzhia NPP: Russia has created a threat of nuclear catastrophe.
Situation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP
According to inkorr.com: Another blackout has occurred at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant due to the actions of Russian invaders. According to 'Glavkom', these actions have led to the loss of external power supply to the station, creating a threat to the safety of Ukraine and Europe. Although the power transmission line within Ukraine is operational, the occupiers do not allow the plant to connect to the power grid, controlling the energy supply and spreading disinformation.
“Diesel generators cannot provide stable power to the plant for a long time, and stopping their operation may threaten the nuclear safety of the facility.”
The Ministry of Energy calls on international partners to increase pressure on Russia to regain control over the NPP in order to avoid potential radiation disasters. This is already the tenth blackout at the plant, and the situation raises even greater concern regarding the safety of nuclear facilities during the occupation. It is extremely important to urgently regulate the situation to prevent negative consequences.
This situation underscores not only the vulnerability of energy facilities in a conflict but also the necessity of international support to ensure nuclear safety. Each new case of blackout at the Zaporizhzhia NPP emphasizes the urgency of efforts aimed at monitoring and protecting nuclear facilities in Ukraine.
