The Death of Markiyan Zelony: The Story of a Hero Who Defended Ukraine.

On October 22, 2025, Ukrainian defender Markiyan Zelony, call sign Verde, who served as part of the International Legion of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, was killed. This was reported by the Glavkom website, citing the Lviv City Council.
Markiyan Zelony was born on October 28, 1978, in Lviv. He studied at Lyceum No. 80 and received higher education at the National University of Lviv Polytechnic in the field of “Automobiles and Automotive Business.” In addition, he was engaged in entrepreneurial activities.
His family remembers Markiyan as a cheerful, sociable, and kind person. He loved animals, was interested in the history of Ukraine, and was brave and devoted to his loved ones. Fluent in English, he played badminton and was passionate about skiing.
Devotion to the Motherland
In 2025, Markiyan Zelony defended the honor of Ukraine from Russian occupiers in the Zaporizhzhia direction as part of the International Legion of the Main Intelligence Directorate. He died on October 22, 2025, giving his life in the fight.
Markiyan was buried on October 29 at the Lychakiv Cemetery in the field of Honorary Burials of the newest heroes. He is survived by his wife, son, and parents.
