A Foreigner in Ivano-Frankivsk Region Launched Fireworks: He Faces Criminal Charges.
According to ТСН: The law enforcement officers of Ivano-Frankivsk region identified the man who launched fireworks during martial law in less than an hour. A criminal proceeding has been opened regarding this fact.
Incident Details
The incident occurred in the evening in the village of Polyanytsia. During the monitoring of social media, the police discovered a video featuring the fireworks. Following this, patrol officers and an investigative operational group were dispatched to the scene.
The law enforcement officers surveyed the area, collected and seized material evidence. As a result of operational-search activities, it was established that a foreigner born in 1984 was involved in launching the pyrotechnics.
“During communication with investigators, the man explained that he launched the fireworks to congratulate his friends on their marriage, as the group had come together for a vacation,” the law enforcement officials noted.
A criminal proceeding has been opened regarding the incident under Article 296 part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism).
The police once again reminds: during martial law in Ukraine, the use of any pyrotechnic products, including fireworks and firecrackers, is prohibited.
Earlier, it was reported that in some cities of Ukraine during the New Year's holidays, individuals launched fireworks despite the bans. This occurred on December 31.
Among the reported incidents:
- in Lviv - fireworks were launched in the residential neighborhood of Sykhiv;
- in Odesa - information is not specified;
- in Kyiv - at Chervonyi Khutor.
This incident again draws attention to the adherence to safety rules during martial law. The use of pyrotechnics can pose a serious threat in conditions when the country is experiencing difficult times, and breaking the law carries liability.
