According to ТСН: Two officials of a private company were accused of embezzling 15 million hryvnias during the sale of spare parts for armored vehicles.

The essence of the case

The investigation established that in 2024, the company's director together with the commercial director ensured the victory of their controlled company in defense procurement.

“This was achieved through manipulation of market prices, imitation of competition, and systematic overpricing of spare parts for military equipment, including the armored vehicles 'Kirpi', which are actively used at the front,”
- stated the Office of the Prosecutor General.

Actions of the suspects

The suspicions were received by the director of the company, who organized the preparation of documents and communication with the military unit, as well as the commercial director, who formed invoices with deliberately inflated prices.

“To appear as the 'cheapest' supplier, the company manager sent out standard requests to affiliated companies, controlling that they submitted commercial proposals with intentionally inflated costs,”
- explained the Office of the Prosecutor General.

Investigation and consequences

Expertise revealed that for just two contracts, the amount of illegally obtained funds exceeded 15 million hryvnias. During sanctioned searches, documents and electronic media were seized from the suspects, confirming their criminal activities.

Both officials were notified of the suspicion of organizing the appropriation of someone else's property in particularly large amounts by prior agreement of a group of persons, abusing their official position under martial law (part 4, 5 of article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for up to 12 years of imprisonment with the possibility of depriving the right to hold certain positions for up to 3 years and confiscation of property.

In addition, it was noted that earlier the court ordered the unscrupulous supplier to return 28.2 million hryvnias to the Volyn Regional Military Administration for defective body armor and helmets that did not withstand testing and could not be used by the military.

This case is a vivid example of the challenges facing the defense industry in Ukraine. In conditions of martial law, the issues of quality supplies and honest use of budget funds gain particular importance, as any abuses can significantly impact the army's readiness to fulfill its duties at the front. The situation remains under the control of law enforcement agencies, which continue to investigate this case.
