Teachers' salaries may decrease due to new taxes: the Cabinet seeks a way to maintain payments.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine expressed concern about the reduction in teachers' salaries in connection with plans to increase the military levy from 1.5% to 5%.
This was reported by the Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science, and Technology - Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov.
The head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation noted that the reduction of payments to teachers by 3.5% is a serious problem, especially considering their low salary levels. The government plans to address this issue when passing the state budget law for 2025.
"We will try to solve this issue during the adoption of the budget law for 2025," said Fedorov.
The minister also indicated that one possible solution to the problem could be an educational subvention - a targeted transfer from the state budget to local budgets, which is used to pay the salaries of educational workers.
Earlier, the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Oksen Lisovyi, talked about plans to increase teachers' salaries.
