He suffered a fatal injury in the Pokrovsk direction. Let's remember Oleksiy Belov.
Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of all those whose lives were taken by the Russo-Ukrainian war. Today, we remember Oleksiy Belov.
On November 17, 2024, while performing a combat mission near the village of Lysivka in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk region, sergeant Oleksiy Belov, the commander of the second platoon of strike unmanned aerial systems of the first battalion, known by the call sign Pirate, suffered severe injuries that proved fatal. This was reported by the Obukhiv City Council.
Oleksiy Belov was born on December 21, 1996, in Kyiv. His childhood and school years were spent in the city of Obukhiv. Oleksiy studied at general education school No. 3 and continued his studies at the Kyiv Automobile and Highway Technical School after finishing nine grades. His choice of this field was not accidental:
Oleksiy was passionate about technology, repaired cars, participated in car racing, and was well-versed in the mechanics of various vehicles. A cheerful, sociable, and positive young man, he had many friends, including among his comrades. Tall, slender, and handsome, Oleksiy was known for his bravery and decisiveness, which earned him the call sign Pirate.
Before the mobilization that occurred in May 2024, he was prepared - for a long Time, Oleksiy Belov was actively involved in the volunteer movement, helping transport fallen soldiers from the frontline territories.
His military fate was short: after two training units in Bila Tserkva and Chernihiv, from September 2024, Oleksiy was in combat zones, performing missions in the most dangerous directions. To make it easier to reach the front line, he bought an old small car there and always drove his comrades to their missions. He was generally a loyal comrade and a reliable friend.
On November 17, 2024, while performing a combat mission near the village of Lysivka in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk region, sergeant Oleksiy Belov suffered severe injuries that proved fatal.
For over two hours, his comrades could not approach him due to heavy shelling; later, he was carried unconscious from the battlefield and taken to a hospital in Dnipro. After two complicated surgeries, he was transferred to the Odesa hospital, where his mother later found him. A doctor herself, this brave woman understood that Oleksiy had no chance of survival, but as a mother, she hoped for a miracle. Oleksiy was transferred to the Feofania Clinic in Kyiv. But, unfortunately, the miracle did not happen. His brain first ceased functioning, and then the body followed.
'Her only son, her 'golden' boy, to whom Anna Hennadiivna had dedicated her entire life, departed this world with a smile on his face. She loved Oleksiy more than life itself, and he loved her just as much. After his phone was unlocked, only then did his mother learn about the terribly dangerous conditions of his service. He protected her; he never told her anything about it. And in his last voice message, fully aware of the danger of the situation, his last words to her were: 'I love you,' the Obukhiv City Council reported.
The hero is survived by his mother, grandfather, and grandmother.
The Chief of the Armed Forces joins in a minute of silence. We honor the memory of all Ukrainians who died fighting for their homeland. We remember those killed at the hands of Russian invaders, lighting candles in remembrance and bowing our heads in grief during a nationwide moment of silence, honoring the bright memory of Ukrainian citizens who gave their lives for freedom and independence: all military, civilians, and children, all who perished in the fight against Russian occupiers and as a result of attacks by enemy troops on Ukrainian cities and villages.
