SBU detained an individual in Izmail for passing data to Russia about military facilities in Odesa region

The Security Service of Ukraine detained a resident of Izmail who is suspected of passing information to Russia about military facilities in the Odesa region. He attempted to conceal his true identity by growing long hair and presenting himself as a girl.

According to the investigation, the 26-year-old detainee established contact with a representative of the Russian special services via Telegram and began cooperating. He promised to provide information about military facilities in the Izmail district for money.

«Carrying out the curator's task, he collected data on the location of military units, the movement and stationing of personnel and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. To obtain the «necessary» information, the prosecutor notes that the detainee, dressed in women's clothing, secretly photographed Ukrainian facilities and then sent the curator a «report» in the form of text messages, photos, and marks on electronic maps», - the prosecution's message states.

According to the SBU's internal security data, among the potential targets of the Russians were the Armed Forces bases, the Security Service, and the Border Guard Service in Izmail. The Russian side planned to use the obtained information to carry out a new series of airstrikes on the Odesa region.
