Zelensky announced large-scale cooperation with Syria after the visit of the Ukrainian delegation.
Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha led the Ukrainian delegation that visited Damascus for重要 negotiations. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported this, noting that the visit is taking place at his request.
Sybiha and Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Vitaliy Koval held a series of strategic negotiations with the Syrian administration and its leader Ahmed Ash-Sharaa.
The Ukrainian side confirmed its support for the democratic aspirations of the Syrian people and their efforts in combating the dictatorial regime. The first batch of humanitarian aid - 500 tons of Ukrainian wheat flour - is expected to arrive tomorrow.
The visit initiates a new stage in bilateral relations between the countries. Agreements have been reached on further food supplies and expanding cooperation in various sectors. Ukraine has expressed its readiness to develop long-term strategic relations with Syria and to contribute to restoring stability in the region.
The President of Ukraine expects a detailed report from Ministers Sybiha and Koval upon their return regarding the specific results of the visit and prospects for further cooperation between the states.
Earlier, the de facto leader of Syria assessed the likelihood of elections after the overthrow of the Assad regime.
