Zelensky on the situation in Ukraine and strengthening air defense
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff, where they discussed strengthening the country's air defense. Zelensky reported this in his address on the evening of April 25, on the 1157th day of the war.
According to Zelensky, the main task is to strengthen Ukraine's air defense. He emphasized the need to obtain approval from the USA for the purchase of Patriot systems and the supply of missiles for them. The president stressed that these are steps to protect Ukrainian citizens, not charity.
Referring to the missile strike on Kyiv, which resulted in the deaths of 12 people, Zelensky mentioned that he visited the site of the tragedy along with diplomatic representatives. He also expressed gratitude to partners from various countries for their support of Ukraine.
Zelensky emphasized that important meetings could occur in the coming days that should lead to achieving peace in Ukraine. He called on Russia to accept the proposal for a ceasefire, to comply with it immediately, and to guarantee security. The president stated that he is doing everything possible for diplomacy to finally work.
