Zelenskyy Sets Condition for Direct Talks with Putin.
Open to Negotiation
According to Espreso.tv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signaled his willingness to hold face-to-face negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, provided certain terms are met. Speaking at a joint press conference in Kyiv alongside NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Zelenskyy claimed that Putin is physically afraid of such meetings. The remarks come amid ongoing tensions and no sign of a ceasefire.
Purpose of the Talks
Zelenskyy stated that his readiness to meet Putin is aimed at ending the war.
“I am ready for direct talks with Putin to end this war,” the Ukrainian president emphasized. He also dismissed Putin’s statements regarding Crimea and eastern Ukraine, asserting that 'only Moscow Island, not Crimea, can force Putin to stop hostilities'. Zelenskyy stressed that Russia’s victory is a myth.
These comments highlight the strained relations between Ukraine and Russia, as well as Ukraine’s push for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict. Zelenskyy’s openness to negotiations suggests a desire to find ways to end the war despite deep disagreements. At the same time, his stance reflects a firm commitment to defending Ukraine’s national interests and territorial integrity.
