Zelensky urges the US to increase pressure on Putin: what exactly is needed.
According to ТСН: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that the United States is not insisting enough on pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin to make him abandon his aggressive intentions.
He expressed his opinion in a chat with the Office of the President, responding to questions from journalists.
According to Zelensky, Putin seeks to completely occupy Ukraine and destroy its independence.
“I do not know when this started in Putin's mind, but today we are exactly in such a time,” he added.
The President of Ukraine believes that sanctions pressure, which significantly reduces revenue to the Russian budget, can force Putin to stop the war.
“In my opinion, America needs to push the Russians a little harder, not give alternatives. America should clearly say: if not diplomacy, then there will be all the pressure. There will be a very strong package of weapons for Ukraine, there will be very strong support for Ukraine, the United States will impose sanctions on the entire economy, on all sectors that bring money to the Russians,” he noted.
Zelensky emphasized that, judging by Putin's daily rhetoric, he does not feel the necessary pressure.
In addition, the day before, Putin during a direct line with Russian citizens stated that Ukraine allegedly refuses a peaceful resolution to the war.
Zelensky's statements indicate that Ukraine expects more active actions from international partners regarding Russia, as only joint efforts can lead to stability in the region. In the face of increasing threats, it is worth paying attention to the role of the US in supporting Ukraine, as their influence can significantly change the course of events on the political arena.
