Zelenskyy Sets Conditions for Peace Talks: Where and When a Meeting Could Happen.
Ukraine's Readiness for Peace Negotiations
According to UATV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signaled his country's willingness to engage in peace negotiations anywhere and in any format. Speaking during the 'United News' telethon, he acknowledged challenges in reaching agreements between the American and Russian sides. According to Zelenskyy,
“We are ready to meet anywhere — preferably in a trilateral format.”
The president further emphasized that the U.S. side can only participate in talks on American soil, while Russia is open to negotiations in other locations.
“The American side can only meet in America, but Russia can meet everywhere except America,”Zelenskyy noted. He stressed that Ukraine is actively working to organize meetings that could take place in Europe, specifically in Turkey or Switzerland. This comes amid ongoing international efforts to mediate the conflict.
Prospects for a Prisoner Exchange
Meanwhile, Kyrylo Budanov reported that a large-scale prisoner exchange could take place on Easter, April 12. He also noted that Zelenskyy is personally overseeing the peace negotiation process. These statements highlight Ukraine's intensified diplomatic push amid the ongoing war.
The dynamics surrounding peace talks between Ukraine, the U.S., and Russia underscore the complexity of international relations during wartime. Ukraine's willingness to negotiate in various formats reflects its desire for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict. With a potential prisoner exchange on the horizon, events could accelerate, potentially opening new pathways toward peace in the region.
