Zelensky to create a military administration in Odessa: what does it mean.
According to inkorr.com: President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that a military administration will be established in Odessa in the near future. The head of state emphasized that this decision is due to the need to strengthen the protection of the city and address security issues. It is expected that a head of the new administration will be appointed soon.
Why Zelensky is introducing a military administration in Odessa
During the report, the president listened to the head of the Security Service Vasyl Maliuk and thanked him for his effective work in the fight against Russian espionage networks. According to Zelensky, special attention is currently focused on southern regions, where the security situation remains tense.
“Odessa deserves greater protection and support. This can be implemented in the format of a military administration. Too many security issues in the city have long remained unanswered,” the president said.
What the newly created military administration of Odessa will do
The new administration will coordinate the actions of local authorities, the military, and law enforcement, focusing on:
- counteracting sabotage groups and spies;
- strengthening defense measures in the coastal zone;
- ensuring stable operation of critical infrastructure.
It is expected that the appointment of the head of the military administration will take place soon. The president's team believes this will allow for a quicker response to security threats in the region and improve cooperation between security forces.
As a reminder, on October 14, it became known that the mayor of Odessa, Hennadii Trukhanov, lost his Ukrainian citizenship, which deprives him of the right to remain in office as mayor. These events add additional complexity to city management and highlight the importance of the security initiatives currently being implemented.
