On Monday, August 11, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had a telephone conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The parties discussed the latest attacks by Russia on Ukraine and sanctions against the aggressor country.
The head of state reported this on Telegram. There was an extensive conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We discussed in detail all important issues regarding bilateral cooperation and the diplomatic situation in general. I am grateful to the Prime Minister for his kind words of support for our people,' the president reported. The president also informed Modi about Russian attacks on our cities and villages, about yesterday's shelling of a bus station in Zaporizhia. 'Dozens of people were injured. A conscious strike by Russian bombs on ordinary urban construction. And this is at a time when a diplomatic opportunity to end the war has finally emerged. Instead of showing their readiness for a ceasefire, Russia demonstrates only a desire to continue the occupation and killings,' said Zelensky. The president emphasized that India supports Ukraine's peaceful efforts and maintains the position that 'everything concerning Ukraine must be resolved with the participation of Ukraine.' Other formats will not yield results. The parties also discussed sanctions against Russia. 'It is important that now every leader with tangible leverage over Russia sends appropriate signals to Moscow. We agreed to schedule a personal meeting in September at the UN General Assembly and to work on an exchange of visits,' summed up the leader of Ukraine. During the telephone conversation between the President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of India, the latest events in eastern Ukraine, Russian attacks, and peaceful conflict resolution were discussed. Both parties expressed support for peaceful efforts and support for Ukraine.
