New helicopter groups for protection against drones
According to inkorr.com: President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced the creation of new helicopter groups to combat enemy drones. This information is reported by 'Glavkom', based on the words of the Ukrainian leader.
At a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff, participants discussed the security situation as well as issues regarding the restoration of energy infrastructure after attacks from Russia. Zelensky noted that tensions on the front line and in border areas persist due to constant drone attacks and shelling.
In addition, a decision was made at the meeting to expand the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine's aviation to combat drones. 'New helicopter groups will be formed. We are cooperating with partners to provide the country with a more diverse range of aircraft. Agreements have been reached with manufacturers of drone interceptors to increase production,' Zelensky stated.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi noted that despite a one-and-a-half-fold increase in Russian attacks, the effectiveness of Ukraine's air defense forces is about 74%. He also noted the intensification of hostile air attacks in the past month. 'Our air defense operates at about 74%, but we need to do more to protect critical infrastructure and logistics,' he emphasized.
The meeting of military leadership was an important step in creating new helicopter groups aimed at protection against drones. Attention was also focused on strengthening cooperation with manufacturers of drone interceptors. Ukraine should prepare for potential threats related to air strikes on critical infrastructure.
