Ukraine Mandates Daily 9 AM Moment of Silence to Honor War Dead.
Ukrainian Law on Honoring the Memory of the Fallen
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a law establishing a daily moment of silence to honor those killed as a result of the armed aggression by the Russian Federation. Signed on March 6, the law mandates a minute of silence each day at 9:00 AM. This measure is intended to pay tribute to the memory of those who lost their lives defending the country from external aggression. This formal act of remembrance occurs as the conflict continues to claim lives daily.
Annual Commemoration for Holodomor Victims
The law also stipulates that the annual commemoration for the victims of the Holodomor of 1932–1933 will be held on the fourth Saturday of November at 4:00 PM. This aspect underscores the importance of remembering the tragic chapters of Ukraine's history and the necessity of their recognition. The Holodomor, a man-made famine, is recognized by Ukraine as an act of genocide against its people.
According to available information, approximately 30,000 invading troops are killed in Ukraine each month. This figure highlights the ongoing intensity of the conflict and its severe consequences for all involved.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that 'only the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin can decide to halt combat operations, yet US President Donald Trump is capable of influencing him.'
The adoption of this law reflects the Ukrainian government's aim not only to honor the fallen but also to emphasize the importance of historical memory for national identity. Amidst the ongoing active military conflict in Ukraine, such initiatives can also bolster societal morale and support national unity. By honoring the memory of the dead, Ukraine demonstrates its resilience and readiness to fight for its independence.
