Ukrainians Urged to Stay Vigilant as Zelensky Warns of Imminent Large-Scale Russian Attack.
Statement from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky
According to UATV: President Volodymyr Zelensky has alerted the nation that Russia is preparing a major assault on Ukraine, urging citizens to exercise caution and emphasizing the critical need for defensive measures. He stressed that the war is far from over, while reiterating Ukraine’s openness to negotiations.
“Putin has been preparing this massive strike against Ukraine for some time now,” Volodymyr Zelensky stated.
On July 1, 2023, Zelensky traveled to Ireland to attend the opening ceremony of Ireland’s presidency of the Council of the EU. Speaking at the event, he highlighted the dangers posed by Russian aggression, which continues to target Ukraine with hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles. The president called on Ukrainians to:
- “always protect lives,”
- “support defense efforts,”
- “respond to every threat.”
Zelensky also noted that he has “already given relevant orders to the military, the Minister of Internal Affairs, special services, and intelligence agencies.” He underscored that “the war can and must be ended,” signaling Ukraine’s willingness to engage in dialogue despite the ongoing tensions in the region.
This announcement underscores the dire situation in Ukraine amid persistent threats from Russia. It highlights the need for heightened readiness among defense structures and caution among the population. The readiness for talks may also reflect Ukraine’s efforts to pursue diplomatic solutions despite the adversary’s aggressive actions, which could significantly shape future international relations and the regional security landscape.
