Zelensky Presented Plan to Scholz to End the War by 2025.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin to present his plan for ending the war with Russia. Zelensky stressed the importance of quickly achieving a just peace and expressed hope for ending the conflict by 2025.
"Today I will present Olaf the plan on how, in our opinion, to force Russia to peace, that is, how to end this war - hopefully no later than next, 2025, and guarantee non-repetition of aggression," said Zelensky.
The President of Ukraine emphasized that his plan does not replace the Ukrainian peace initiative but aims to strengthen Ukraine's positions. Zelensky called this plan "a bridge to holding a successful Peace Summit that will truly put an end to the war".
Zelensky expressed gratitude to Germany for significant military assistance, particularly in the area of air defense, which saved many Ukrainian lives and provides protection against Russian aggression.
Chancellor Scholz announced the intention to provide Ukraine with a new large-scale military aid package worth 1.4 billion euros, which is planned to be delivered by the end of 2024. The package will include air defense systems, artillery, armored vehicles, and ammunition.
Zelensky emphasized the importance of continuing support next year, and stated: "It is very important for us that the aid does not decrease next year. It is very important for us to take care of the future, to ensure the volume of aid is sufficient to protect people and lives."
Both leaders confirmed the necessity of holding the next "Peace Summit" with the participation of Russia but emphasized that peace must be achieved based on international law and the UN Charter.
