Ukraine Celebrates Constitution Day Amid Ongoing Conflict

According to UATV: On June 28, Ukraine observes Constitution Day, commemorating the adoption of its founding legal document three decades ago. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the nation on this significant occasion, highlighting the Constitution’s role in the country’s history and development.

'Exactly 30 years ago, the fundamental law of our state was adopted—a law given strength by the Ukrainian people. Our citizens are the ones writing the pages of our history, and they are the ones filling the pages of our Constitution with life,' he stated.

Military Operations and Threats

In the context of the ongoing war, Zelenskyy reported strikes on Russian oil processing facilities. The attacks targeted the Slaviansk refinery in the Krasnodar region and an oil plant in the Yaroslavl region. The distance to the Slaviansk refinery is 300 kilometers, while the Yaroslavl facility is 700 kilometers away. These actions are part of Ukraine’s broader strategy to degrade resources fueling Russia’s military operations.

Meanwhile, during the night of June 28, Russia launched an assault on Ukraine using:

  • two Zircon/Onyx anti-ship missiles
  • six Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles
  • 142 attack drones

Strikes were recorded at 11 locations. 'We continue our operations aimed at weakening Russia’s ability to wage this war. Each of our long-range sanctions reduces the resources that power the Russian war machine and brings us one step closer to peace,' Zelenskyy emphasized in his remarks.

Today’s events underscore the complex reality Ukraine faces—simultaneously honoring a pivotal moment in its history while confronting persistent military threats. Constitution Day has become not only a celebration but also a reminder of the resilience of the Ukrainian people in the face of external aggression. The struggle for independence and territorial integrity remains the nation’s central focus, and actions designed to deplete enemy military assets demonstrate the leadership’s determination to ensure security and stability.
