Ukraine Ready for Security-Backed Peace Deal, Says Zelenskyy.
Ukraine's Readiness for a Peace Agreement
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has declared his nation's readiness to enter a peace agreement that would deliver genuine peace and concrete security guarantees. Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, he expressed hope for successful negotiations with the United States and Europe. Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine must find a solution capable of ending the war and ensuring regional stability.
The President emphasized that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin shows no interest in ending the conflict. This casts doubt on the possibility of achieving a peaceful settlement while the aggressor demonstrates an unwillingness to compromise. At the same time, he stated,
"We are prepared for a deal that brings a real peace. We believe this war can be ended,"said the Ukrainian leader.
Zelenskyy stressed the critical importance of security, asking:
"These guarantees will answer the main question: how long will peace last before war returns?"
Negotiations and Challenges
To achieve results, Zelenskyy maintains constant contact with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner and is holding meetings with Secretary of State Marco Rubio. During these meetings, he underscores that Ukraine lacks the missiles needed to repel Russian attacks.
"Today we are meeting with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Ukraine wants the result of all these efforts to be real security and real peace,"the President stressed.
Zelenskyy also pointed out that American counterparts frequently return to the question of concessions, which are too often discussed only in the context of Ukraine, not Russia. This approach could influence the course of negotiations and determine the next steps in seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
President Zelenskyy's address at the Munich Security Conference highlights the urgency of achieving a peaceful settlement to the war between Ukraine and Russia. With the Kremlin's position remaining aggressive, the chances for a peace deal will depend on international support and the readiness of Western partners to take decisive action. The importance of security and reliable guarantees for Ukraine are key factors that could influence regional stability in the near future. The ongoing conflict, now in its third year, continues to have profound global implications for energy and food security.
