Zelenskyy: No Date Set for Next Round of Talks with Russia Following Abu Dhabi Meeting.
Ukrainian President's Statement
According to UATV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the new composition of the Russian delegation at the peace talks in Abu Dhabi. He stated on January 30 that a date for the next meeting with the Russian Federation is not yet known, despite a previously anticipated meeting scheduled for February 1. The ongoing war, now approaching its second year, adds urgency to these diplomatic efforts.
Zelenskyy also expressed the view that the outcome of the negotiations depends on the position of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"I do not know when the next meeting will be. It was supposed to be on Sunday [February 1]," he said. The Ukrainian President emphasized that
"Ultimately, the result depends on Putin. That is how their system works."
Uncertainty in the Negotiations
Consequently, the status of the negotiation process remains uncertain, with further developments hinging on decisions made by the Russian side. This lack of a fixed date for the next meeting indicates potential delays in the peace process and reflects the persistent political tensions in the region. The uncertainty underscores the complex dynamics at play, where high-level decisions in Moscow will significantly influence the path toward a potential settlement.
